Hello, and welcome to my site. This webspace is dedicated to one thing and one thing only. PETS! Let’s face it, we all love them, we all play with them, and we all end up- somehow- with some pets. Throughout this website I will have pages about all of my pets- that includes gerbils, dogs, cats and a fish. I’ll have facts, pictures, stories and a how to guide. An encyclopedia states that:
“A pet or companion animal is an animal kept for companionship and enjoyment, as opposed to livestock, laboratory animals, working animals or sport animals, which are kept for economic reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits; keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress. There is now a medically-approved class of "therapy animals," mostly dogs, who are brought to visit confined humans. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction.”
The most popular pet is a cat or a dog. According to a census taken in the USA, by the number
of households that have a dog, a dog would be more popular, but the number of cats is bigger
than dogs- as most people own more than one. Other popular pets include horses, reptiles,
rodents and birds. Our life wouldn’t be the same without these loveable animals.
Working with animals is also a major career choice for many. Jobs such as a dog trainer, an
SPCA inspector, a horse rider, a dog listener and a vet are now successful jobs- a dream
