Meet Goldy: the silver fish everyone loves! (Okay- that may be a slight exaggeration...) Well, to cut a long story short, when we were little my brother, sister and I wanted pets. Mum bought us three goldfish as they are low-maintenance and cheap. Goldys two friends have both died, but it seems Goldy has had an elixir of life! We expect him (or her?) to die soon, BUT HE NEVER DOES! Whenever you eat, the fish decided to poo right infront of you. If comes upto the side of the tank and gapes at you... and it requires a thorough cleanout once every few months! This will sound harsh, but, basically... we're just waiting for it to die!! Don't get any bad ideas, we would never flush it or anything like that- or stop feeding it. My family and I are waiting for it to die naturally. (IF it dies should i say.... the longest recorded life of a goldfish lasted for 49 years!)
When we bought Goldy from a pet shop, we were conned! We were told that the fish was a greeny silver colour because it was still young; and that when it became older it would turn gold. Ha! We've had this fish for years but it's still a murky greeny silver colour.
Jess enjoys watching the fish, with the occasional bat with the paw now and again!
Goldy is, despite what I said earlier, still quite a good pet. He doesn't hunt, like the cats, or pull on the lead, like Bridie!
I hope you enjoyed reading about our pet (silver) goldfish.
(sorry about the poor quality- we didn't use the flash on the camera incase it scared the fish)
