She's big. She's mean. She's cuddly. She's BRIDIE! Bridie is my family's pet dog. She is brindle in colour and is a lurcher. Bridie's a big softie at home, who loves cuddles and playing, but outside, on walks, if she sees another dog she won't stop pulling until she gets to it. Unfortunately, after she bit one poor dog, it resulted in the purchase of a basket muzzle, which she now is forced to wear everytime we go on a walk.
Dog's are a man's best friends. They are amazingly popular; most people you know will probably own one, or have friends or family who do. Scientists believe that dogs used derived from wolves. The earliest dog fossil on record dates back to between 13 and 17000 years ago. This page is about my fabulous pet dog, Bridie!
Leftovers from the catfood sachet she recently chewed up
If one thing's for sure, it's that Bridie LOVES to run about. Whenever we take her on walks (providing the weather's not bad) she pleads to go further, so that she can get let off the lead to run free.
That's a great advantage of living in the country; there are large, open spaces of moorland, great for dog walking! Due to Bridie's very short fur, she sometimes gets cold out, and shivers. This resulted in us buying Bridie's very own dog coat! (Which she is sometimes too embarrassed to go out in.)
Bridie in full gear, ready for the cold!
Bridie was taken from the SPCA too! She used to live in a home with 5-6 other dogs, but, unfortunately her owner became quite ill and gave all but 2 of her dogs to the rescue home. Bridie has a very sweet habbit of nudging you with her nose when she wants attention. She is a very lovely animal!
A bit on the tubby side, eh Bridie?
Bridie is about 7. She is a bit of a show off when she's with dogs she likes (mainly retreivers, or dogs she knows and sees regularily) and she recently was running so fast- to try and impress Waggy, our nana and grandad's puppy- that she bumped into a large tree and had a very swollen leg for a while!
Bridie, apart from being a big lump, is also a bit of a wimp! She gets frightened easily; when there's thunder in the air, if she hears a loud beeping, (the smoke alarm terrifies her), and if she sees a large man she doesn't know. (We suspect, because she is scared of some men, that she was mistreated in her past.)
She sleeps in a plastic basket, with a duvet in it for comfort. She, unlike most other dogs, actually likes going to bed! She'll know when it's time for bed, and, usually, she'll go off to sleep happily without being asked!
Bridie, embarrassed to have been caught in the midst of sorting her duvet!
She's rather prone to that position I think =)
Bridie is a great pet. I hope you've enjoyed reading about her as much as I've enjoyed writing about her.
Waggy!
Waggy is my nana and grandad's new puppy. She's a beautiful (and mischevous!) spaniel cross colly cross retreiver. She is very young, and extremely excitable! My grandad had to spend a lot of money getting 200 or so planks of wood, which he used to build a bigger fence around their garden. (Waggy had previously escaped and caused havoc!!)
Above is a screen shot from the youtube video "Waggy attacks broom." You can watch it at the top of the page ^_^
Waggy is a great little puppy! Our lives wouldn't be the same without her.
