Cats are all around us. Strays, pets, wanderers... We've all seen one. These felines originated in Egypt; they have been associated wuth humans for 9.5 thousand years! Most cats are very social, although they tend to be wanderers... Thousands of cats go missing, some never to be seen again.
The first of our pet cats you will be reading about is Jess. She is my cat.
Having a rest after a long day's work!
Jess was bought from the SPCA. We saw her and Molly at an SPCA fun day, She is (we think) 3 or 4. Originally, we were just going to get Molly- we bought them together- but thought Jess was too cute to resist, and that Molly might like some company. Jess likes to sleep up high! Her favourite sleeping places are ontop of the upstairs hall cabinet and ontop of the bookshelf. Jess is a wonderful cat. She is cuddly and loveable- and just a tad fat! She has a tendancy to purr extremely loudly and suddenly miaow, then purr, then miaow...
Time for our daily stretches!
And a view from the front?
As I am sure you can now see, Jess is a very sweet cat. (Who likes to sleep in odd positions!) Her favourite food is fish catfood sachets. She likes to sleep on pillows- as you can tell from the first picture!
It's such a hard life being a cat!
To the left is Jess, lazing around. (What a surprise!) Jess is a very relaxed cat- who likes to go on the occasional dog walk with Bridie. (When we call 'walkies!' to the dog, Jess- and Molly and Meg- think it's a call for them and decide to come along as well.) What a family outing!!
MOLLY
Another pet of ours is the beloved Molly. Molly (who is possibly the fattest cat alive) was also taken from Balmore. She was originally named Poppy, but my family and I decided Molly suited a cat like her best.
She's watching you. Her glowing green eyes are watching you!
Molly is a very nice pet. Unfortunately though, she tends to drool when she's happy. Whenever I open my bedroom door, Molly tends to DART in right away. (Because she knows there are gerbils in there.) Molly is, well... shall we say not exactly the brightest bulb in the box. This fact, though, just makes her even more adorable!
As you can see, she's a tabby. She is extremely petted and enjoys being fussed over. Molly belongs to my brother, James. We always argue about whether Molly or Jess are cutest. You decide!
What an absolute poser!
MEG
Meg is our oldest cat. She, too, was bought from the SPCA. Her brother, Mog, also used to have a home here, but sadly, a couple of years ago, he ran away. Meg was awful with our other cats when we first got them, but she quickly calmed down. Meg loves cheese...
Don't let her innocent looks fool you... outside, Meg is viscious and hunts! Beneath that smiling face are razor sharp teeth. Don't get on Meg's bad side!
Meggy has lived with us for approximately 6 years. We reckon that she's 7. My older sister, got her for her 10th birthday.
Meg is definitely out most dignified cat. She will do things with elegance and class, while our other cats won't! She is very beautiful and dainty. We all love Meg!
Tiger Tim,
Maisie,
Jessica, Yum Yum and
Smokey
My grandparents, who live across from us, have 3 cats and a puppy, Waggy. Find out more about the mischievous Waggy on the dogs page.
They moved up here when I was yong. They came up with Yum Yum and Coco. Sadly, Coco was lost and hasn't returned. But more kitty joy awaited for them! Maisey and Smokey, two friend cats who lived near by, adopted my nana and grandad. They started coming in for food and warmth. Their owner didn't care for them very well. In no time at all, nana and grandad's new cats multiplied! Soon, Jessica and Tiger Tim were born; two beautiful tabbies. Unfortunately, Smokey has recently disappeared :(
Above is either Tiger Tim or Yum Yum (we can't tell from the photograph!) caight in mid-lick.
Jessica moved to my Uncle Sam's house in England.
The new cats have been neutered.
All is now at peace!
Jessica's on the hunt!
